Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (So remind, for you are not one who will be reminded)]
Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Tur: 29] The address is to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) (remind) and the one being reminded is omitted, and the implied meaning is: remind the people,Or if you wish, say: remind those to whom you were sent, of the jinn and the humans.
[At-Tur 52:29] This is a negation of what the deniers of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) claimed, namely that he is a soothsayer or a madman,Allah the Exalted said:[At-Tur 52:29] And the soothsayer: He is the one who informs about the unseen matters of the future, and soothsaying was famous in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, where a person would have a vision from a jinn that accompanies and serves him, then the jinn would ascend to the sky to listen to what is said in the sky, and descend with it to this soothsayer, so this would be knowledge of the unseen from the people of the earth, but the soothsayer would add many things that he guesses, so when what he heard from the sky came to pass, he would become great among his people; because he informed about something in the future and it came to pass.
So the soothsayer, then: He is the one who informs about the unseen matters of the future, so when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came with the revelation, the polytheists rejected it and denied it,And they said: Muhammad only brought it from soothsaying; because the soothsayers inform about something and it comes to pass, and because the soothsayers also bring forth rhymed prose that resembles the Qur'an, and the Qur'an is detailed verses that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) brought, for this reason the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the speech of Haml ibn al-Nabigha who said: (O Messenger of Allah! How can I be held responsible for one who did not drink, nor eat, nor speak, nor cry out, and the like of that is prolonged,So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: it is only from the brothers of the soothsayers) because of the rhymed prose he recited.
The important point is that they say about him (peace and blessings be upon him): that he is a soothsayer, so Allah negated that,Then they said: that he is a madman who brings forth what he does not know,So Allah refuted them and said: [Surat al-Tur: 29] This is a negated sentence, emphasized by the extra ba' grammatically, which conveys meaning, (by a soothsayer) its original form is: So you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer nor a madman, but the ba' was added to emphasize the negation.
Allah the Exalted said:
So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman.
فَذَكِّرْ فَمَا أَنْتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلا مَجْنُونٍfor you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman.
فَمَا أَنْتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلا مَجْنُونٍSo remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord,
فَذَكِّرْ فَمَا أَنْتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَSo the soothsayer, then: He is the one who informs about the unseen matters of the future, so when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came with the revelation, the polytheists rejected it and denied it,And they said: Muhammad only brought it from soothsaying; because the soothsayers inform about something and it comes to pass, and because the soothsayers also bring forth rhymed prose that resembles the Qur'an, and the Qur'an is detailed verses that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) brought, for this reason the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the speech of Haml ibn al-Nabigha who said: (O Messenger of Allah!
