The meaning of the fortune-teller in the verse.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The fortune-teller is the one who informs about the unseen, reporting what will happen in the future. The fortune-tellers in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance were people who connected with the devils who steal hearing from the sky. The devil would come to his companion and inform him of what he had heard from the sky. Then this fortune-teller would add many lies to what he was informed of from the hearing and would tell the people about it. When the matter occurred as he had heard, and his opinion from the devils came true, people would say: "These people know the unseen." So they feared them, honored them, and showered them with wealth, gifts, and other things. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is not a fortune-teller; rather, revelation comes to him from Allah (Mighty and Majestic) through Gabriel the Trustworthy. He is not insane; rather, he is the most intelligent of people (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him).
