The Status of the Hadith: (Water is pure; nothing makes it impure)

[The Status of the Hadith: (Water is pure; nothing makes it impure)]

The hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated by Ibn Majah: (Water is pure; nothing makes it impure except what overpowers its smell, taste, and color) What is the ruling on this hadith regarding its authentication or weakening, and the scholars' establishment of certain rules based on it?
It is a weak hadith in terms of its chain of narration, but it is correct in terms of its meaning. Water is pure; every water that descends from the sky is pure,As Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said:
and We send down from the sky pure waterوَأَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً طَهُوراً
[Al-Furqan: 48] and every water that springs from the earth is pure, because the water that springs from the earth is the water that descends from the sky,As Allah the Exalted said:
Do you not see that Allah sends down rain from the sky and makes it flow as springs [and rivers] in the earthأَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ أَنْزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً فَسَلَكَهُ يَنَابِيعَ فِي الْأَرْضِ
[Az-Zumar: 21] So if the original state of water descending from the sky or springing from the earth is purity, it cannot depart from this original state except by what changes it. If it is changed by impurity, it becomes impure.
So the hadith has a weak chain of narration, but its meaning is correct,And this leads to a rule I would like you to understand: Sometimes the chain of narration is correct, but the text is weak and denounced. It is not permissible to rely on the apparent correctness of the chain,And therefore the scholars said regarding the authentic: It is what is narrated by a just narrator with complete precision, through a connected chain—these three all relate to the chain, either to the narrators or to the chain itself—and is free from anomaly—And it is: deviation from authentic hadiths—and from a decisive defect. Sometimes the chain appears correct, but the text is denounced, so it is not relied upon.
