Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (And spend from that of which He has made you successors)

Allah the Exalted said:
and spend out of that in which He has made you successorsوَأَنْفِقُوا مِمَّا جَعَلَكُمْ مُسْتَخْلَفِينَ فِيهِ
[Surah al-Hadid: 7] Spending is giving, and (from that of which He has made you successors) means wealth; because Allah has made us successors in this wealth, and He is the One who granted it to us. Therefore, we have no favor over Allah for what we spend; rather, the favor is Allah’s over us for what He has given, and the favor is His over us for what He has prescribed for us of spending. Had Allah not prescribed for us to spend, spending would have been a waste and a religious innovation. But He prescribed for us to spend. Thus, the favor is His first for the wealth He granted us, and His second for what He prescribed for us of spending it.
