What is the ruling on dealing with those whose boycotting is of no benefit, such as the dhimmis (non-Muslims under Muslim protection) who reside in Muslim lands?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Yes, our brothers, those who were spoken to and then you depart as guided ones.

The questioner: If he is not boycotted, if it is known that there is no benefit in it, for example, does one deal with them... in our countries, for instance, out of caution?

The Shaykh: What is the difference between dealing with a dhimmi (non-Muslim under Muslim protection) and dealing with a disobedient Muslim? There is no difference between them. The only thing is that there is a strong bond and unity between a Muslim and a Muslim that is not legislated between a Muslim and a disbeliever. Between a Muslim and a disbeliever, you call them to testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. If they respond, they have what we have and they bear what we bear.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: Otherwise, they are called upon to pay the jizyah (the tax on protected non-Muslims) from their hand while they are humbled, or else they are fought. This is the means of disciplining disbelievers. As for the Muslim, this is not the prescribed means; rather, it is boycotting. And the answer, as you heard just now, is that if the one boycotting is of the opinion that his boycotting will benefit him, then he should do so; otherwise, he should not. Then, if he is of the opinion that his boycotting will not benefit him, he deals with him in a normal manner, but he must always and forever keep in mind that he should remain an advisor to him, not a boycotter of him.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: I mean, advice. Is that clear?

The questioner : Is that clear?
