What is your guidance for us, may Allah reward you, regarding how I should discuss with the partisan brothers and others about their criticisms of Shaykh Al-Albani, his knowledge, and his person?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Between the first group and the other group, perhaps you have read, if it was available to you to read, that this Khalidi suppressed his response?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : This is something that contains no trace of knowledge.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : He says, or thinks, and I do not memorize his exact wording in any case, and I am not eager for that; it is merely a quick provocation.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : He thinks that Shaykh Al-Albani has reached the decline of old age where he does not know what he is speaking or saying. We can say that he is a mujtahid (a scholar qualified to derive rulings) but he made a mistake? No, this is not from that, because he is one of two people: either he knows Al-Albani personally, physically, and intellectually and scientifically, or he does not know him. If it is the former, who testifies with him that he has reached the decline of old age?

The questioner : I had responded to this phrase on the plane; I wrote about it.

The Shaykh : Yes, may Allah reward you with good. My purpose is...

The questioner : ...about this verse.

The Shaykh : My purpose is that you divide the group you want to meet into two categories: a first group and a second group. You should know how to deal with them because you will face some difficulties and doubts. Therefore, you do not enter into a scholarly battle with them; they are not... You should distinguish between the two groups, and your speech should differ with this one from that one, and with that one from this one. This is a reminder, and a reminder benefits the believers, if Allah wills.

The questioner : By Allah, I wanted to come to you as my first step, but my brother Nidal surprised me by saying there was a previous call from my brother Yusuf, and I was reading in his mosque, meaning I did not know about this. But, glory be to Allah, He made the matter easy. It was easy, and by Allah, O Shaykh, glory be to Allah the Great, what you said, Allah knows, and it is among the blessings of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. I am not a jurist and I am not a scholar, but rather Allah, Mighty and Majestic, inspired me with this behavior, meaning these thoughts while I was on the plane.

The Shaykh : It is success from Allah.

The questioner : And I told my brother Nidal about this matter. I told my brother Nidal now, even if I were in a court of judgment, if I were in a court of judgment, I would not take both sides and set aside our Shaykh Al-Albani, but I would take the other side, even without looking at your fatwa (a scholarly legal ruling), its text. I told him that the matter now is: Allah the Exalted, through His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), has decreed a reward for the mujtahid (a scholar qualified to derive rulings) who errs, and two rewards if he is correct.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : In both cases, this is the favor of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, which He grants to whom He wills. So who prevents the favor of Allah from people like these? And those who are people of ijtihad (independent legal reasoning), if Allah wills. But I told my brother Nidal that as for the other side, I want to confront them with evidence from their call and the teachings of Hassan al-Banna or others that they follow, if they are still new to this call, the call of the Muslim Brotherhood, meaning they have not reached the point of saying, or if a person says or hears or imitates this, it is not befitting for him, because he is not qualified for ijtihad (independent legal reasoning) in these matters. This is their taqiyyah (dissimulation); how do they seek for themselves by what argument before Allah they will be judged? By what you have witnessed, may Allah not exonerate you before Allah, by what the scholars of this era have testified for you, and among those whom the Muslim Brothers respect and trust absolutely, and now they come and say this and publish it in the newspapers. So I said, it is one of three things, and we ask Allah for safety from these ailments: either ignorance, or envy, or arrogance.

The Shaykh : And all of them are combined.

The questioner : I said, by Allah, in my thoughts: what if these three are combined?

The Shaykh: Allahu Akbar.

The questioner : If Allah wills, you will have nothing but good in it. By Allah, the first thing I will do when I come to you is to consult you about the matter, and praise be to Allah, now you have heard something that opened my chest, in what Allah the Exalted inspired me with, meaning.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you with good, and I suggest that you truly listen to the tape of al-Faqir.

The questioner: Yes, by Allah.

The Shaykh : Al-Faqir is one of the calamities that he preaches to the people, and on Friday it is something that is hardly believable.

The questioner : O Shaykh, this is madness, by the One who has no god but Him. I do not cut off your speech, O Shaykh, allow me. The first meeting was with this al-Faqir, and it was in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : And my aunt came to al-Madinah for 'Umrah (the lesser pilgrimage), so I was looking for her in al-Madinah, and Allah led us to a hotel where there was a group of Jordanians, and their leader was al-Faqir, who was on 'Umrah (the lesser pilgrimage).

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Imagine a gathering in the hotel, in a hall in the hotel, a large hall.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : I started listening and said, who is this? They said, this is al-Faqir. I had heard of him.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Because at that time, I was not mixing with them while I was a teacher in Jordan.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Meaning, he brought "for every occasion, a word."

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Most of these people do not know what 'Umrah (the lesser pilgrimage) is, or its rituals, or what invalidates it. So he delved into matters far removed from this matter, and the rulers, and he does not leave a ruler, he does not leave such and such. So I took exception and said to him after he finished: You came to ask them, leaving their families, their wealth, and their lands, returning, and you do not accept their 'Umrah (the lesser pilgrimage) in what they contradicted? For every occasion, a word.

The Shaykh : You are correct.

The questioner : By Allah, it did not enter my heart from the first moment. By the One who has no god but Him, O Shaykh, this is among the blessings of Allah upon me. And I make my intention between me and Allah that I do not hate al-Faqir or anyone else, and I do not dislike a person like this from the door to the window, so that you do not say about me that I am foolish sometimes. If I am foolish, I do not fall into the mistake of disliking a person or hating him, lest Shaytan sow discord between me and him. I say to him, my brother, I am more ignorant than you, and you are more knowledgeable than me. It appears to me that you made a mistake. Is this a mistake or not? I have an argument from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). This was between me and the Muslim Brothers, and between me and all the people, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, I do not find a person who hates me. Meaning, it appears to me that it is the duty of a person, from our Salafi brothers, or from the Muslim Brothers, and the Sufis, I did not mix with them, and I hope Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will guide them, such and such.

The Shaykh: Amen.

The questioner : The Ansar al-Sunnah group in Egypt, or the Saruriyyin group, for example, or the group of our brothers in the people of Najd, all of them, meaning, Allah created me and fashioned me not by my wealth or my righteousness, but by the blessings of Allah, Mighty and Majestic.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : If Allah wills, you will see nothing but good. And if Allah, Mighty and Majestic, wills good for them, and they see the truth and the argument in our hearts and our style, which we ask Allah to be sound, I do not doubt that they will have a great reward and recompense if they see themselves in error, or that they have criticized the honor of a scholar or a Muslim brother from their brothers, and they apologize for that. And if they refuse and they persist, we say, "Sufficient for us is Allah, and He is the best Disposer of affairs," and sufficient for them is Allah, Mighty and Majestic. And by Allah, it is better for you, better for you, because you are more knowledgeable than us, and you...

The Shaykh: Excuse me.

The questioner : You know how the scholars used to meet him, and who were better than us in the previous eras.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you with good, but I am still drawing your attention to the necessity that you distinguish between these and those, reminding you of the saying of Allah, the Exalted:
Then will We treat the Muslims like the criminals? أَفَنَجْعَلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَالْمُجْرِمِينَ
[Al-Qalam 68:35]
The Muslims are like the criminals?! Al-Faqir says in the Friday sermon: O Mufti of Misguidance. Do not think well of him, my brother 'Abd al-'Aziz.

The questioner : Unless he is in a psychiatric and mental hospital.

The Shaykh : Ah, the intention is to insist that you read his tape, listen to his tape, so that you know how to establish the argument against him in your own style.

The questioner : And a second stance that did not enter my heart when I was on this round in Ramadan, far from our professor Abu Malik to Kamal Sharif, a social event for iftar (breaking the fast) in... Jerusalem, scholars and shaykhs and old friends, praise be to Allah, He enabled us to meet them after years of separation. So al-Faqir, by Allah, meaning this is something that is not befitting for a person who wears a turban in front of people, meaning they think he is a scholar.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : And there he introduced himself without anyone introducing him.

The Shaykh: Allah is the Greatest!

The questioner : And there was someone more knowledgeable than him in the Qur'an and more learned in fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), such and such we were. I said, where is the Sunnah?

The Shaykh: Allah is the Greatest!

The questioner : It is not befitting. I ask Allah, Mighty and Majestic, to open our chests, meaning all of us.

The Shaykh: Amen.

The questioner : To the truth—Mighty and Majestic is He—and we, Allah—Mighty and Majestic is He—means He looks at our intentions. And, if Allah wills, I consider this poor person to be in the second category, and perhaps there are others behind him who are like him. And, if Allah wills, our Lord is the One who inspires us to show us these people and make us know them, if Allah wills.

The Shaykh : I hope for you complete success, O Abdul Aziz.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : Welcome.

The questioner : Please, please, our Shaykh.

The Shaykh: All right.
