Is the absence of jealousy resulting from the effect of sin a relative matter between one sinner and another, or is it fixed?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The Imam Ibn al-Qayyim mentions in the effects of sins and disobedience that they cause the servant to lose his sense of jealousy. He spoke the truth, may Allah reward you, there is no power except with Allah. Good and beautiful.

The Shaykh : It corrupts.

The questioner : Disobedience causes the loss of.

The Shaykh : It causes the loss of.

The questioner : Yes, it causes the loss of or the corruption of. Yes, the Muslim or the person’s sense of jealousy becomes, meaning, nonexistent. So naturally, he elaborated by saying that jealousy is jealousy in the self, jealousy in relatives, and jealousy in society. He gave a detailed explanation, which is beautiful. The point, my Shaykh, and the question is that one of the brothers sitting in the class asked me, saying, "Brother, is jealousy a relative matter, or does everyone who disobeys and everyone who moves away from Allah... their jealousy is lost?" Glory be to Allah, I understood... the answer the questioner wanted, and I answered by saying that the matter is relative, not that it is absolute, because some disbelievers have jealousy, as we know from history in the days of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, how some of the Arabs of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance had jealousy. We want the truth, my Shaykh, to clarify this matter for us: is jealousy a relative matter regarding the issue and its relationship to sins, and do disbelievers also have jealousy in some aspects? May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : No doubt that... what you are talking about is a truth without doubt. But I believe that just as there are causes for the loss of jealousy, there are causes for acquiring it. So the issue is a matter of opposing causes: causes that remove it and causes that produce it or provide it. The fact that it existed in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance is a truth, but this does not negate that it has causes, such as generosity, for example, like liberality, like bravery. It is possible that these are natural causes that realize jealousy. And there are causes, as Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned, from sins and disobedience to reduce jealousy or to eliminate it completely.

The questioner : ... my Shaykh, that jealousy is an innate matter in man, the nature of man.

The Shaykh : Yes, if he were left with his innate natural disposition.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : It appears that the matter is so.

The questioner : Yes.
