Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: If you please, Shaykh?

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner: Am I not sinful toward my father?

The Shaykh : How can you be sinful toward your father? Did you intend to harm your father?

The questioner: Of course not.

The Shaykh : Then how can it be imagined that someone like you would harm her father? Also, can you do what they want from you?

The questioner: ... It is no matter, Shaykh, it happened against my will.

The Shaykh : No, do not let it take hold of you, do not let it take hold of you. Ask Allah to grant you health and be reassured that you are not responsible for your father in this situation. As for ordinary circumstances, you are, if Allah wills, dutiful to your father and mother, as you know from His saying—Blessed and Exalted is He—:
And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment وَقَضَى رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا
[Al-Isra 17:23]
, so you are doing good, if Allah wills. As for this distress that befalls you, you are not harming yourself, and therefore it is not befitting for your father or mother to be distressed by you. Rather, they should also participate with you in supplicating to Allah—Mighty and Majestic—so that a speedy cure may be obtained, if Allah wills.

The questioner: If Allah wills.

The Shaykh : So do not worry, as long as you do not intend harm, for actions are by intentions. And I remind you that the believer is tested, and Allah—Mighty and Majestic—when He loves a servant, He tests him until He hears his complaint. Therefore, from a psychological standpoint, do not be affected at all.

The questioner: If Allah wills.

The Shaykh : Clear, if Allah wills.

The questioner: If Allah wills, it is clear.

The Shaykh : Good, I wish you a speedy cure, if Allah wills, and peace be upon you.
