Continuation of the Friday Sermon

And in his hand is a cigarette. To what extent does this advice have an impact? His advice does not leave the seat he sits on. So fear Allah, O Abdullah, so that the word of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, does not befall you: . And this is the calamity of the Muslims today: their callers and scholars, except for whom your Lord has mercy, and they are few. They do not adorn themselves with the character of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), nor with the character of his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). One of them wants to jump from the ground to the top in a single leap. They receive knowledge without action. They receive knowledge without upbringing. They think knowledge is merely the collection of information. The computer today is a dumb machine; if you charge it with information, it gathers for you more than a scholar and more than a Shaykh from the Shaykhs of Islam. The measure, O believing brothers, is character. The measure is taqwa (mindfulness of Allah), as the Exalted said: . So shall we, O brothers, be the best successors to the best predecessors? Shall we follow the methodology of the scholars who act upon their knowledge, from among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? Shall we follow them in their character, in their conduct, in their virtue, and in their deeds? I ask Allah to make us and you successful in that. There is much, and very much, to say and advise regarding this, but this is sufficient, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. Establish the prayer.
