A word from the Shaykh on wiping over socks and leather socks.

The Shaykh : All praise is due to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our own selves and from the evil of our deeds. Whoever Allah guides, no one can mislead, and whoever He misleads, no one can guide. And I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. May Allah send blessings and peace upon him, his family, his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows, this is the twenty-third of the monthly gatherings, which take place on the third Sunday of every month, meaning on the night of the third Sunday of every month, unless there is an obstacle. This month, it is the night of the seventeenth Sunday of the month of Jumada al-Akhirah in the year 1415. I ask Allah the Exalted to make these gatherings a blessing for us and for our brother listeners.
O my brothers, the topic of this gathering, as our brothers stated, is speaking about what remains of the Sermon of Need that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught his Companions. However, I have decided to make the topic of this gathering what people are in need of, so that we may return, if Allah wills, next month to complete the discussion on the Sermon of Need. What I want to do instead of what we are currently engaged in is to speak on wiping over socks and leather socks, because people have begun to need it as the cold has begun to open its doors upon us.
We return to what I want to speak about tonight, which is wiping over socks and leather socks.
We say that it is part of the creed of the people of the Sunnah and the community that wiping over leather socks is permissible. Look, some of the people of the Sunnah include in their creed the belief in the permissibility of wiping over leather socks. Why? Because some of the people of innovation differ with them on this, such as the Rafidah, for example, who do not see the permissibility of wiping over leather socks, and some of the Khawarij who do not see the permissibility of wiping over leather socks.
