The supervisor's position toward students in the examination hall.
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And we are discussing examinations and matters surrounding them from various angles.
The first angle: It is well known that the examination hall is supervised by professors. So what is the supervisor's position toward the students in this hall? His position must be one of alertness and attention, monitoring the students with proper supervision. This is not a hardship imposed on the students, but rather a measure of firmness and maintaining order for the students. If he sees someone attempting to cheat, or someone actually cheating, he is obligated to enforce the regulations against them. It is not permissible for him in this situation to show favoritism to a relative, a friend, a relative's son, a friend's son, a merchant because of his trade, or a poor person because of his poverty. No, people are equal; people are equal in this regard. So he must fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in his supervision and be alert and discerning, observing the students, observing their lips, and observing their pens, so that he fulfills what is obligatory upon him. For the supervisor is a trustee entrusted by whom? By the responsible officials, the administration or the dean. They have delegated the matter to you, so either he performs the trust in the required manner, or the opposite occurs. And Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Anfal 8:27] So he must fear Allah and realize that his standing to supervise and moving among the rows of students is an act of worship for which he will be rewarded, because he is fulfilling a trust. The earth, the heavens, and the mountains refused to carry it, but man carried it. So he is currently performing a great act of worship through which he draws near to Allah.
