What is the role of students of knowledge in Hajj?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This is what is being asked. The request is stated as follows: "May the Shaykh advise us, we students of knowledge, in these days that are approaching, whether here or there, regarding Hajj. What is our role?"
The Shaykh : The role of a student of knowledge in every time and in every place is to fear Allah as much as he is able and to make clear to people what he knows of the Shari'ah of Allah, for Allah the Exalted says:[Ali 'Imran 3:187] and to call to it with insight. He should be, when he calls to Allah, broad in chest and bright in face, seeking thereby to reform what is corrupt in his brother, not to take revenge on him or to be arrogant over him. And if he seeks reform and follows the path that leads to it, Allah will make it easy for him.
I wish for all students of knowledge to be a good example in their morals, their deeds, and their calling to Allah, so that this serves as an aid for people to accept the Shari'ah of Allah from them. For the Shari'ah of Allah may be rejected by a layperson due to the poor conduct of the one who calls to Allah. Thus, you will find some layperson who has good character and has won the hearts of people, and you will find a man who is a good scholar, an ocean in the sciences, but he does not have good character; you will find that he is not loved by people because of his bad character. So, O student of knowledge, improve your character toward people and improve your conduct with people, so that you are accepted and the Shari'ah, which Allah has blessed you with knowledge of, is accepted from you.
The questioner : May Allah bless our Shaykh in his knowledge and his life, and may He reward us with the best reward. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon His servant and Messenger Muhammad.

And [mention, O Muhammad], when Allah took a covenant from those who were given the Scripture, [saying], "You must make it clear to the people and not conceal it."
