Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says:The questioner : What is the role of the ordinary Muslim in calling people to Allah the Exalted?

The Shaykh : The role of the ordinary Muslim is to stick to a scholar until he becomes a student of knowledge, and then to call people to Allah.
Say, “This is my path; I call to Allah with insight, قُلْ هَذِهِ سَبِيلِي أَدْعُو إِلَى اللَّهِ عَلَى بَصِيرَةٍ
meaning with knowledge, proof, and wisdom
I and those who follow me. And exalted is Allah; and I am not of those who associate others with Him." أَنَا وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَنِي وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ
[Yusuf 12:108]
But there is no doubt that the ordinary Muslim may have some knowledge. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Convey from me, even if it be an Ayah بلغوا عني ولو آية
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2669Sahih (Darussalam)
It is necessary that this ordinary layman have knowledge of the matter to which he is calling, even if he is not a student of knowledge or a deeply learned scholar, but it is not permissible for him to call without knowledge. Yes.
