The questioner : He says: It has become unclear to us, O honorable Shaykh, when the restricted takbir begins, so we request from your honor clarification on the Sunnah reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the takbir, and whether it is the same for the resident and the pilgrim?

The Shaykh : It is well known that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) commanded His remembrance at all times:
(41) O you who have believed, remember Allah with much remembrance (42) And exalt Him morning and afternoon. يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ ذِكْراً كَثِيراً وَسَبِّحُوهُ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلاً
[Al-Ahzab 33:41-42]
But the ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah are distinguished by an additional merit. It is prescribed for men and women, from the entry of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah until the last day of the days of Tashriq, to say takbir, tahlil, and tahmid, saying: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa lillah al-hamd, at all times. However, the scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) say: From the dawn of the Day of 'Arafah until the last day of the days of Tashriq, it is recommended to say the restricted takbir after the prayers, meaning: after you seek forgiveness from Allah and say: O Allah, You are Peace and from You comes peace, you say takbir from the dawn of the Day of 'Arafah until when? The last day of the days of Tashriq, and that is in the 'Asr prayer on the last day of the days of Tashriq. And you may also say takbir at all times, so that from the Day of 'Arafah until the last day of the days of Tashriq, the unrestricted takbir and the restricted takbir coincide. Yes.
