The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets and the Imam of the righteous.
As for what follows: This meeting serves as a completion of the previous lecture on the night of last Monday, because many questions were raised regarding the topic of the lecture. Shaykh Mahmud just mentioned that many of the brothers wish to know something about the takbir during the ten days, the ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah. We say that the takbir during the ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah is prescribed (mashru'). It is recommended (sunnah) for a person to increase the takbir during the ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah, saying: "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa lillah al-hamd." Some of them, some scholars say: You say the takbir three times, so you say: "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa lillah al-hamd." The matter in this is broad, meaning whether you say it twice or three times, it is all good. But the scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) mentioned that the absolute takbir, meaning that which is done in all hours of the night and day, begins from the entry of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah to the last day of the days of Tashreeq, meaning until the sun sets on the night of the thirteenth. So the days of Tashreeq are days of absolute dhikr, as well as the ten days before the festival, and also the day of the festival. As for the restricted takbir, it is from the Fajr prayer on the Day of 'Arafah to the 'Asr prayer on the last day of the days of Tashreeq. The restricted takbir is after five prayers on the Day of 'Arafah, five prayers on the day of the festival, five prayers on the eleventh, five prayers on the twelfth, and five prayers on the thirteenth. The total is twenty-five prayers. It is recommended to say the takbir after them, meaning after saying "Seek forgiveness from Allah" three times, "O Allah, You are Peace and from You is peace. Blessed are You, O Owner of Majesty and Honor." He says the takbir, so this takbir is like the tasbih and tahmid that is recommended at all times after the prayer. These are the times for the absolute and restricted takbir. Then we mentioned in the lecture that it is obligatory (wajib) to seize the ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah with righteous deeds, such as dhikr, Qur'an, supplication, charity, and prayer, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family):Sunan Ibn Majah 1727Sahih (Darussalam). We ask Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) to make these ten days and what follows them days of good and blessing for us and for all Muslims. And we ask Allah the Exalted in this place to support our brothers in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to hasten for them the noble victory and the clear triumph, for He is Able to do all things. And now, to the questions that our brother Mahmud ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Sayyigh (may Allah reward him with good) has arranged, to make it easier to deliver them. Please proceed.
