The Shaykh : This problem is truly real, but it is an old problem that I have spoken about several times on the pulpit, and others have spoken about it in articles and sermons. However, some people have dead hearts, may Allah protect us from that, and they do not feel anything. Allah Mighty and Majestic says: We have failed and others have failed, but there is no doubt that in the magazines, especially the magazines that come to us from abroad, there are magazines, may Allah grant us safety, that publish obscenity and corruption, either through their foul words or their indecent pictures. It is not permissible for a person whom Allah the Exalted has entrusted with his family, and to whom the Messenger of Allah has entrusted them, to keep these newspapers in his home ever. He must fight them as a lion fights a sheep, or rather, he must fight them as water fights fire. He should tear them up while his children are watching, so that they know that they are forbidden and invalid. As for bringing them to them, or seeing them buy them and approving of it, this, by Allah, is not caring for them as they should be cared for, nor is it doing good to them in their care. Then it is amazing that people buy these magazines or newspapers, which contain what destroys morals and beliefs, with their money. Is there a greater loss of money than this? I mean, if a person walked in the market and started scattering dirhams, that would be better than buying these magazines and giving them to his children, because with these magazines he has done a forbidden act, he has assisted in falsehood, and he has corrupted the morals of his family. But if he were scattering dirhams in the market, perhaps a poor person would take them and benefit from them. So, O brothers, we must advise one another against these indecent magazines, whether in their articles or otherwise. We have even seen a writing in our newspapers by a woman, a woman, and the woman is always, as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, deficient in her intellect and religion, who says: We must not declare the Jews and Christians disbelievers; they are all heavenly religions. Glory be to Allah! I mean, even if we say: this is an ignorant woman, the least we can say about her is that she is ignorant. So how does the newspaper publish such speech, in a Muslim country where they read the Qur'an morning and evening? Allah the Exalted declares the Christians disbelievers: How do we say: it is not permissible to call them disbelievers? We call them disbelievers and more, because they distorted the texts of the Torah and the Gospel and corrupted them. They show much and hide much: Yes, we say that the followers of Moses in the time of Moses who followed him were Muslims and our brothers, and we ask Allah for their forgiveness and mercy. Likewise, the followers of 'Isa in the time of 'Isa who followed him were believers, and we pray for their forgiveness and mercy. But after the sending of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), about whom Allah Mighty and Majestic said to him: After this, whoever among the Jews and Christians did not follow him is a disbeliever, a disbeliever from among the people of the Fire. This is our belief, and this is what we testify to in public and before every person: that whoever does not follow the Messenger of Allah Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah is a disbeliever, whatever name he calls himself.
