The questioner : The questioner says: O esteemed Shaykh, if one fasts the month of Sha'ban, should he connect it to Ramadan or must he separate them? For example: a man whose custom is to fast three days a month, but his fasting was delayed and only tomorrow and the day after tomorrow remain. Does he sin if he fasts?

The Shaykh : He does not sin if he fasts, because this falls under the saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
except a person who is in the habit of observing a particular fast; he may fast on that day. إلا رجل كان يصوم صوما فليصمه
Sahih Muslim 1082a

Do not observe fast for a day, or two days ahead of Ramadan except a person who is in the habit of observing a particular fast; he may fast on that day. لا يتقدمن أحدكم رمضان بصوم يوم ولا يومين إلا رجل كان يصوم صوما فليصمه
Sahih Muslim 1082a

except a person who is in the habit of observing a particular fast; he may fast on that day. إلا رجل كان يصوم صوما فليصمه
Sahih Muslim 1082a
