I am a permanent imam of a mosque, and I eat garlic and never do without it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: I am a permanent imam of a mosque. And I eat garlic and never do without it. Knowing that when I eat garlic, I never sit in the mosque so as not to bother the congregation, for I go from the mosque door to the mihrab and from the mihrab to outside the mosque. And I perform the recommended prayer at home. Is this permissible for me? And what is the way to a better method than this?

The Shaykh : It is not permissible for a person who has eaten onions or garlic and the smell remains to enter the mosque, neither the mihrab nor the middle of the mosque, whether as an imam, a follower, or alone. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
He who has eaten onion or garlic or leek should not approach our mosque, because the angels are also offended by the strong smells) that offend the children of Adam. من أكل بصلا أو ثوما فلا يقربن مساجدنا، فإن الملائكة تتأذى مما يتأذى منه الإنسان
Riyad as-Salihin 1703
. But if he must eat, let him use things with strong scents that will neutralize the smell of garlic and onions. If the smell is gone, there is no harm in him attending the mosque and being an imam, a follower, or alone. But as long as the smell remains, it is not permissible for him to enter the mosque. Yes.
