I was performing Hajj and my intention was Hajj Tamattu', and a fire broke out, so my goods and money were in the tent and I did not pay the fidyah, so is there anything required of me?

The questioner : He says: I was performing Hajj and my intention was Hajj Tamattu', and a fire broke out. So my goods and money were in the tent and I did not pay the fidyah, so is there anything required of me?

The Shaykh : And what did he do? Did he fast? Because the fire occurred on the eighth day. This means that he will know that when the Day of Sacrifice comes, he will have nothing with him. So he should fast on the eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth days. And when he returns to his family, he should fast the remaining seven days, based on the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He:
then whoever performs 'umrah [during the Hajj months] followed by Hajj [offers] what can be obtained with ease of sacrificial animals. And whoever cannot find [or afford such an animal] - then a fast of three days during Hajj and of seven when you have returned
[Al-Baqarah 2:196]
. And if he did not do this, then he must now repent to Allah, and fast ten days: three as making up for missed fasts and seven as performing the fast in its proper time. Yes.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Hm?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : ... The 'Umrah of the one performing Tamattu' is pure according to the question, because he is a one performing Tamattu' and the 'Umrah is finished, and he entered the state of ihram for Hajj anew. Also, it is not possible that a person can convert his Tamattu' to Ifrad ever. And it is also not possible to convert his Qiran to Ifrad. But if he entered the state of ihram for 'Umrah and then added Hajj to it before starting its tawaf, that is permissible and he becomes one performing Qiran. Yes.
