I ask your Excellency to answer; my question is: Some people believe that the maids in houses are owned by the owner of the house, and Allah says

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: Your Eminence, I ask your Excellency to answer; my question is: Some people believe that the maids in houses are owned by the owner of the house. And Allah says:
those your right hand possesses أوَ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ
[An-Nisa 4:3]
. I ask for an answer, and please forgive me if there is an error in my question?

The Shaykh : This belief is incorrect, meaning: the belief that the maid is owned is a great error. The maid is not owned; she is free. It is not permissible for a man to look at her face or speak to her without need, because she is a stranger to him. But here is an easy way: if the maid is young and has no husband, let the owner of the house marry her so that he has another wife besides his first wife to help him in his rights as a husband. And she helps her in the affairs of the house as well. This is better.
Yes, indeed. And in that case, is this maid lawful for him through ownership and not through marriage? Through marriage. Yes.
