The ruling on one who leaves off staying overnight in Mina.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And here are some issues: The first issue: If a person leaves Makkah on the second day and goes directly to 'Arafah without staying overnight in Mina, what is the ruling? The ruling is that he has left off a recommended practice (sunnah). If he stops in Mina before 'Arafah, that is better; otherwise, he owes nothing—no expiation, no sin, no fasting, and nothing else. That is to say, if he goes from Makkah directly to 'Arafah, he owes nothing. The evidence is that a man from the tribe of Tha'if—Tha'if is a mountain around Hail—came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was praying the dawn prayer on the day of the festival at Muzdalifah. He informed him that he had exhausted himself and worn out his mount, meaning he had tired it out, and that he had not left a single mountain without stopping at it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said to him:
Whoever offers this prayer with us, and stood before that in Arafatat by night or by day, his Hajj is complete, and he has completed the prescribed duties. من شهد صلاتنا هذه ووقف معنا حتى ندفع، وقد وقف قبل ذلك بعرفة ليلاً أو نهاراً فقد تم حجه وقضى تفثه
Sunan an-Nasa'i 3041Sahih (Darussalam)
He did not mention staying overnight in Mina, which indicates that staying overnight in Mina before the Day of 'Arafah is what? It is a recommended practice (sunnah). If it is easy for you, that is what is sought; if it is not easy, there is no harm.
