Is it permissible for men to wear a white gold ring for the purpose of marriage?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible for a man to wear a white gold ring for the purpose of marriage?

The Shaykh : The answer is that wearing a ring for marriage is forbidden for a man if it is made of gold, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding gold and silk:
These two are forbidden for the males of my nation, and permitted to the females. هذان حرام على ذكور أمتي حل لإناثها
Sunan Ibn Majah 3595Sahih (Darussalam)
It is also established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he saw a man wearing a gold ring, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took it and threw it away, saying:
One of you is wishing live coal from Hell. and putting it on his hand. يعمد أحدكم إلى جمرة من نار فيضعها في يده
Sahih Muslim 2090
When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left, it was said to the man: "Take your ring and benefit from it." He said: "By Allah, I will not take a ring that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) threw away." As for if it is made of silver, and the man or the questioner refers to it as white gold, if he means silver, that is an error. If he means diamond, then diamond is not gold; rather, gold is the known red gold. I say: if the ring is made of something other than gold, there is nothing wrong with it in itself. However, if it is accompanied by the belief that it necessitates the continuation of affection and love between the man and his wife, it is forbidden because of this defective belief. The presence of the ring does not necessitate the continuation of affection between the man and his wife. How many people have worn a ring and separation, enmity, and hatred occurred between them and their wives? And how many people have not worn it, and Allah placed affection and love between them.
Furthermore, it has been said that the origin of this ring is taken from the Christians. If that is the case, there is another concern, which is imitating the enemies of Allah, the Christians.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, esteemed Shaykh, and may He magnify your reward.
