The questioner : She asks about dreaming of white rice and that she dreams of it frequently. She had gold, not a great amount, around twelve thousand riyals, and she used to wear it. Now she has no gold. She is now saying: I am afraid this dream is because of the gold, since I do not pay any zakah from it. I ask the honorable Shaykh Muhammad for an answer regarding this.

The Shaykh : I do not know the interpretation of dreams, but due to the frequency of questions about dreams, I say to my brother listeners that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided his Ummah: if a person sees something he dislikes in his sleep, he should seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan, spit to his left three times, and say, "I seek refuge in Allah from the evil of Shaytan and from the evil of what I saw." He should not tell anyone about it, and he should turn over from the side he was sleeping on to the other side. If he gets up, performs wudu, and prays two rak'ahs, that is good, and in that case, that dream will not harm him, no matter how great its impact.
If a person uses this method, he is safe from many worries that befall him in these disturbing dreams. As for the gold from which she did not pay zakah, it is known that the scholars differed on the obligation of zakah on gold. In the case of disagreement, one must return to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), based on His saying, the Exalted:
And in anything over which you disagree - its ruling is [to be referred] to Allah. وَمَا اخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِيهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَحُكْمُهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ
[Ash-Shuraa 42:10]
and His saying:
And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result.
[An-Nisa 4:59]
If we return this disagreement and contention among the scholars regarding the obligation of zakah on gold to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), what becomes clear to me from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is the obligation of zakah on gold in gold and silver jewelry, provided it reaches the nisab, which is eighty-five grams of gold. If it reaches this amount, it is obligatory for the woman to pay zakah on it every year by appraising it at the completion of the lunar year at its equivalent value, and then paying out one-fifth of the value it equals at the time zakah becomes due. Since the scholars differ on this, a person who did not pay zakah in the past, but then learned that the opinion of obligation is the stronger one and paid it, has no sin for what passed. However, if it becomes clear to him that the opinion of obligation is the stronger one, it is obligatory for him to pay zakah. I do not think this questioner left the zakah of her jewelry while believing it was obligatory.

The questioner : May Allah reward you. This is a message that reached the program from a listener who used the initials N J R for his name, from al-Bahah. He says in his message.
