The questioner : As we know, O honorable Shaykh, from the Noble Qur'an and the pure Sunnah, the fate of the polytheists in the Hereafter. My question is regarding their young children if they die; what is the ruling, O honorable Shaykh? I ask for your guidance.
The Shaykh : If the children of disbelievers die before reaching the age of discernment, and their father and mother are disbelievers, then their ruling in this world is the ruling of disbelievers. That is, they are not washed, not shrouded, not prayed over, and not buried with the Muslims, because they are disbelievers by virtue of their parents. This is the ruling in this world. As for the Hereafter, Allah knows best what they were doing. The most correct opinion regarding them is that Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, will test them on the Day of Resurrection with whatever He wills of obligation. If they comply, Allah will admit them to Paradise. If they refuse, He will admit them to the Fire. We say the same about the people of the interval (ahl al-fatra) and those to whom the messages did not reach. If they did not profess Islam, their ruling in this world is the ruling of disbelievers. As for the Hereafter, Allah knows best what they were doing. They will be tested and obligated with whatever Allah, Mighty and Majestic, wills and what His wisdom requires. If they obey, they will enter Paradise. If they disobey, they will enter the Fire.
The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh. A message was received for the program from the listener Ali Isa al-Harithi in Makkah al-Mukarramah. He says in his message:
