The questioner : May Allah guide me, I married a committed young man, and this is a favor from Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) upon me. He prays at its times, fasts, and stands in prayer. My mother and I live in the same house, but, O honorable Shaykh, he is rarely able to sit with his children. His trips are frequent, internally with his colleagues and in the library. I advised him to give us some of his time, but to no avail. What is your advice for these people, O honorable Shaykh? May Allah reward you.
The Shaykh : My advice to this brother, whom you have described as being upright and eager to obey Allah, is that he should know that obeying Allah (Mighty and Majestic) includes fulfilling the rights of his family and children. As the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2413Sahih (Darussalam) Fulfilling the rights of his family and children is undoubtedly part of obeying Allah, and it may be better than many of the acts of worship he performs. This is because if the acts of worship he performs are voluntary, then fulfilling the rights of his family and children is obligatory, and the obligatory is better than the voluntary and more beloved to Allah, as in the authentic hadith: Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says Sahih al-Bukhari 6502 Therefore, my advice to this brother is that he fulfill what is obligatory for you in terms of good treatment, and fulfill what is obligatory for your children in terms of good upbringing and guidance, and so on. By doing so, he will be rewarded by Allah (Mighty and Majestic). It is not permissible for him to neglect the rights of his family in order to stay with his brothers and companions, for this is injustice, tyranny, and a violation of rights. Yes.

Ubu Juhaifah narrated from his father who said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) made a bond of brotherhood between Salman and Abu Ad-Darda. Salman went to visit Abu Ad-Darda, and saw Umm Ad-Darda wearing shabby clothes, So he said: 'Why are you wearing such shabby clothes?' She said: 'Your brother Abu Ad-Darda has no interest in the world.' So when Abu Ad-Darda arrived, he prepared some food for him (Salman) and said: 'Eat, for I am fasting.' He said: 'I shall not eat until you eat.'" He said: "So he ate. When night came Abu Ad-Darda started to leave and stand (in prayer), but Salman said to him: 'Sleep.' So he slept. Then he went to stand (in prayer) but he said to him: 'Sleep'. So he slept. When the morning (Fajr) came,Salman said: 'Get up now.'So he got up to perform Salat. Then he (Salman) said: 'Indeed your self has a right upon you, your Lord has a right upon you, your guest has a right upon you, and your family has a right upon you. So give each the right they are due. The Prophet (s.a.w), and that was mentioned to him, so he said: 'Salman has told the truth.'"
