Is it permissible to raise one's hands to the sky in obligatory or voluntary prayer to seek forgiveness from Allah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible to raise one's hands to the sky in a prayer that is obligatory or voluntary to seek forgiveness from Allah?

The Shaykh : Raising the hands in prayer during supplication is based on specific textual evidence and is not permissible except where there is a text to that effect. I am not aware of raising the hands in prayer except in the qunut. In the qunut, it is prescribed for a person to raise his hands in supplication, but he should not raise his face, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade raising the gaze to the sky in prayer, and he was severe in his statement regarding this, saying:
Let them desist from this, or their eyes will be plucked out. لينتهن عن هذا أو لتخطفن أبصارهم
.
Raising the gaze to the sky in prayer, whether during recitation or during supplication, is forbidden, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was severe in his statement regarding it and threatened those who do it. By this, we know the error of some people who, when they rise from the bowing, extend their hands to the sky and raise their gazes. This is an error. The prescribed action when rising from the bowing is to raise your hands as you raise them at the takbir of ihram. You raise them as a gesture when saying: "Allah hears the one who praises Him," then you place them on your chest, placing your right hand over your left, with your head not raised to the sky.
