How to respond to those who deny the hadith of the fly when it falls into a vessel.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The hadith of the fly.

The Shaykh : As for the hadith of the fly, it is what al-Bukhari narrated from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When a fly falls in the drink of one of you, he should fully dip it and then throw it away because there is disease in one of its wings and cure in the other إذا وقع الذباب في شراب أحدكم فليغمسه ثم لينزعه فإن في أحد جناحيه داء وفي الآخر شفاء
Bulugh al-Maram 14
.
This hadith is established from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) through the hadith of Abu Hurayrah, and medicine is a witness to it.
And I say: If the hadith is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), it does not concern us whether medicine testifies to its truth or not. Rather, in a broader expression: If the hadith is established from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), it does not concern us whether modern science, whether it is medicine or something else, testifies to its truth or not. Because what is called science that contradicts the authentic hadiths, we say that it is not science, but rather a delusion. And the days will reveal the truth of what the hadiths established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
So this hadith of the fly, those who denied it among the people said: This is impossible. But the verified scholars of medicine have proven that this is possible, and that under its wing is a gland. If it falls into water or a drink, it bursts and mixes with this drink, becoming a disease. And in the other wing is a gland, by the permission of Allah, that bursts if the second wing is dipped in this water or drink, thereby curing the disease of the first gland. And this is from the wisdom of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), for Him (Glorified and Exalted is He) to show His servants the greatness of His power.
So this fly, which is among the weakest of creatures, has two opposites gathered in it: a disease and a cure.
And al-Tirmidhi or Abu Dawud added, and I have forgotten which,
It prevents the wing of it is which there is a cure وإنه يتقي بجناحه الذي فيه الداء
Sunan Abi Dawud 3844Sahih (Al-Albani)
meaning that when it falls, it falls on the wing that contains the disease, but that is removed by dipping it.
It remains for someone to say: If it falls in milk, for example, and you dip it and take it out and throw it away, am I obligated to drink this milk?
I am not obligated to drink it, but I do not avoid it out of fear of the disease, because the harm of the disease has been averted by the cure in the second wing.
And I am not obligated to drink it, because a person is not obligated to eat every lawful thing.
A thing may be lawful, but my soul does not accept it.
Am I obligated to drink it or eat it? No.
This Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was served the 'ad-dub, which I think is known to you. He was served the 'ad-dub, but he did not eat from it and passed it to those with him. It was said: O Messenger of Allah, is it forbidden? He said:
No but it is a food that is no9t known in the land of my people, and I find it distasteful.لا، ولكنه ليس في أرض قومي فأجدني أعافه
Sunan an-Nasa'i 4317Sahih (Darussalam)
, thereby indicating that his soul disliked it.
There are people now, if you brought them camel meat, and camel meat is known, and it is delicious in taste if it is in the description that people call what? Grilled? In any case, it is delicious in taste, and many people crave it, and they consider it a cure, because the common people say that it eats from every tree, and the trees contain healing.
But some people can never eat it, and if they eat it, they suffer from it. So if he says: By Allah, I do not eat camel meat because my soul does not crave it, do we say this is a forbidden act?
Never.
This water in which the fly fell and you dipped it in and took it out, if you do not crave it after the fly, there is no blame on you for not drinking it.
Give it to someone else to drink.
Yes, indeed.
