If a fly falls into the drink of any of you, let him submerge it

The ninth question of Fatwa No. ( 6290 ):
Q9: In the book [Jawahir al-Bukhari ] there is a hadith which is: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When a fly falls in the drink of one of you, he should fully dip it and then throw it away because there is disease in one of its wings and cure in the otherإذا وقع الذباب في شراب أحدكم فليغمسه ثم لينزعه، فإن في أحد جناحيه داء وفي الآخر شفاء
Bulugh al-Maram 14
narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), stating that the fly carries nothing but diseases, so how
can there be a cure in one of its wings? They say: This does not agree with reason, so is this hadith authentic? And how do we respond to these people?

A9: This hadith is authentic in its chain; it was narrated by al-Bukhari , and it has corroborating narrations from the route of Abu Sa'id in the collection of al-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah , and from the route of Anas ibn Malik in the collection of al-Bazzar , and its text does not conflict with reason, for reason does not perceive that there is a disease or a cure in the wings of the fly, or that there is a disease in one and a cure in the other, and that is only known either through experimentation or analysis of the wing material and conducting experiments, or through revelation to the infallible Messenger, and nothing of that has been established through analysis and experiments to the extent that it can be said to be contrary to the hadith or in agreement with it; it is merely a feeling of revulsion originating from the natural aversion of human nature and the disgust of the human soul, whereas the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not know that through study and analysis either, for he was unlettered and lived his life in an unlettered nation that had no experience with this ruling, and he only informed about it (peace and blessings be upon him) through revelation from Allah the Exalted, who created everything and knows its specifics
Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the Acquainted?أَلا يَعْلَمُ مَنْ خَلَقَ وَهُوَ اللَّطِيفُ الْخَبِيرُ
[Al-Mulk 67:14]
, so if the hadith is established in its chain and the news comes as revelation from the One who encompasses all things in knowledge, on the tongue of the truthful and trustworthy one (peace and blessings be upon him), then it is obligatory to rule on the authenticity of the hadith, and the claim of its contradiction with reason is a word of reckless conjecture and blind guessing, so it is obligatory
to reject it, and thereby the truth becomes clear and falsehood perishes, for falsehood is ever perishing. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
