The questioner : He also says: I heard that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said
Whoever wears silk in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter. من لبس الحرير في الدنيا لم يلبسه في الأخرة
Sunan Ibn Majah 3588Sahih (Darussalam)
or as he said. Is there a difference between natural and artificial silk? And is it forbidden for men to wear the men’s fabrics currently being sold in the markets that resemble artificial silk? Please rule on this, and may you be rewarded?

The Shaykh : Wearing silk for women is permissible, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him) regarding silk and gold:
It is made lawful for the women of my Ummah أحِل لإناث أمتي
As for the man, or rather, as for any male, it is not permissible for him to wear silk. The hadith to which the questioner referred,
Whoever wears silk in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter. من لبس الحرير في الدنيا لم يلبسه في الأخرة
Sunan Ibn Majah 3588Sahih (Darussalam)
indicates that wearing silk is among the major sins, because a threat of punishment is not issued except for a major sin. This applies to real, natural silk.
As for artificial silk, which is not natural, it is not forbidden for a man to wear it. However, a person should not wear it because it may convey a sense of effeminacy and a love of luxury. This may fall under extravagance or may fall under what leads to fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). Therefore, it is better to avoid it, even though it is permissible. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
