Wearing Silk

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The eighth question of Fatwa No. ( 3810 )
Q8: Is wearing silk forbidden, and does this include synthetic silk?
A8: Wearing natural silk obtained from the silkworm is not permissible for men, as reported by al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) from Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade us to drink out of gold and silver vessels, or eat in it, Ann also forbade the wearing of silk and Dibaj or sitting on it.نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أن نشرب في آنيـة الذهب والفضة، وأن نأكل فيها، وعن لبس الحرير والديباج، وأن نجلس عليها
Sahih al-Bukhari 5837
; and it is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Gold and silk have been permitted for the females of my Ummah, and forbidden to the males.أحل الذهب والحرير لإناث أمتي وحرم على ذكورها
Sunan an-Nasa'i 5148Sahih (Darussalam)
. As for synthetic silk obtained from plants and the like, it is permissible; because the original ruling regarding clothing is permissibility. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
