I am 25 years old, always ill, with a thin body and poor health, yet I practice all religious rituals except fasting.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The listener is from Yemen, Al-Hudaydah Governorate, a listener to the program. He says in this question that he is twenty-five years old and that he is always ill, his body is very thin, and his health condition is not good. Despite this, he practices all religious rituals except fasting, as it tires him greatly. When he wants to fast, his father says to him: "Do not fast, for fear of your health and out of mercy for you." So what should he do, O honorable Shaykh? He says he is living in confusion, anxiety, and fear of Allah. What is obligatory on him in such a situation? Is fasting obligatory on him when he is unable, or is an expiation required? Please issue a ruling on this?

The Shaykh : I say: I ask Allah to grant you health and to strengthen you for worship. If you are unable to fast Ramadan and it is very difficult for you, then feed one poor person for every day, because this is the obligatory duty of one who is unable to fast for a reason that is not expected to end. You are of this category based on the description you gave, so feed one poor person for every day and do not burden yourself with fasting. However, if you are able to fast but need rest during the day, then fast and rest yourself during the day, and do not do anything except what is obligatory for you to do, such as attending the congregational prayers in the mosques, and seek help from Allah the Exalted.
And if you are unable to fast in the days of summer due to the length of the day and the intensity of the heat, but you are able to fast in the days of winter, then there is no harm in waiting until you fast in the winter. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh.
