Washing the hands up to the elbows.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And the hand is defined by Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and He said:
and your forearms to the elbows وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ إِلَى الْمَرَافِقِ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:6]
.
The word
to إلى
; some scholars said that here it means
with مع

meaning your hands along with the elbows, and they said that
to إلى
in the Arabic language means
with مع
, such as His saying, the Exalted:
And do not consume their properties into your own وَلا تَأْكُلُوا أَمْوَالَهُمْ إِلَى أَمْوَالِكُمْ
[An-Nisa 4:2]
, meaning along with your wealth.
And there is no doubt that the elbow is included in the washing, as the Sunnah clarified this, for Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him)
performed wudu and washed his hands until he reached the upper arm, and washed his feet until he reached the lower leg, he said: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do this توضأ فغسل يديه حتى أشرع في العضد، وغسل رجليه حتى أشرع في الساق، قال رأيت النبي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يفعل هكذا
.
Now, your hands up to the elbows, where does the washing begin?
The students: From the hand.

The Shaykh : From the tips of the fingers.
And here I pause to point out an issue that some people do: when they come to wash their hand, they wash only the forearm, especially if they put it under the faucet, you find them washing this up to the elbow and leaving the palm, and this is a great error, because if he washes only the forearm without the palm, it is not true that he washed his hand, because He says:
your forearms to the elbows أَيْدِيَكُم إلى المرافق
[Al-Ma'idah 5:6]
.
