Tayammum is a purifier that is restricted by the presence of water, with evidence.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : But this purification is restricted to when water is found; if water is found, he must use it.
If his tayammum was for major ritual impurity, and then he finds water, it is obligatory for him to perform the full ritual bath.
And the evidence for that is the hadith? You have the answer.
The students: 'Umaran ibn al-Husayn.

The Shaykh : The hadith of 'Umaran ibn al-Husayn that we mentioned earlier, for this man performed tayammum for major ritual impurity, and yet the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to perform the full ritual bath when the water arrived.
And likewise the hadith of Abu Hurayrah:
Clean earth is the Wudu' of the Muslim, even if he does not find water for ten years. الصعيد الطيب وضوء المسلم وإن لم يجد الماء عشر سنين، فإذا وجده فليتق الله وليمسه بشرته
Sunan an-Nasa'i 322Hasan (Darussalam)
.
So based on this, we say: if he finds water, or recovers from the illness, it is obligatory for him to renew his purification.
If a sick person becomes in a state of major ritual impurity, and the doctors tell him that the full ritual bath will harm him, what do we tell him? He should perform tayammum.
The man performs tayammum and starts praying, then Allah the Exalted cures him of this illness. Is it obligatory for him to perform the full ritual bath?
Yes, it is obligatory for him to perform the full ritual bath, because this purification is temporary.
