Ruling on the presence of water after performing tayammum
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q88: The questioner says: In the case of performing tayammum to offer the Maghrib prayer, due to the absence of water in one of the wilderness locations, and upon returning and the time for 'Isha' entering, water became available while I was in a state of purity from the previous tayammum. Should I perform wudu with the water when it is available and pray, or is the purity from the previous tayammum sufficient?
A88: When the time for prayer arrives, seek water around you and near you, and by asking the people around you. If you do not find water, then perform tayammum. Allah the Exalted said:[An-Nisa 4:43], and this is after seeking and searching. If you perform tayammum and pray, your prayer is valid. However, if you find water afterwards, it is obligatory for you to perform wudu, and you must not remain in the state of tayammum, even if none of the things that break wudu have occurred for you, for tayammum is invalidated by the presence of water. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 124Hasan (Darussalam)
A88: When the time for prayer arrives, seek water around you and near you, and by asking the people around you. If you do not find water, then perform tayammum. Allah the Exalted said:
and find no water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and your hands [with it]. Indeed, Allah is ever Pardoning and Forgiving.
Pure clean earth is a purifier for the Muslim; even if he did not find water for ten years. Then if he finds water, then let him use it (for purification) on his skin
