The Shaykh’s clarification of the impact of emotions on upbringing in some groups, the obligation of upbringing based on Islam, and providing examples of both cases.

The Shaykh : I believe that those who raise [people] on emotions, as the Shams say in our region in Sham: "A stick gathers them, and a stick drives them away," must raise them on Islam. I will give examples: Some of our brothers from some groups in Damascus used to gather every Friday night and keep the night awake. This is a very simple example. These people, I mean, hold the principle of upbringing, meaning the upbringing of the self. But other partisan groups: upbringing has no weight and no meaning for them. So we said to them: "O people, you are gathering on a night in which gathering for prayer and worship is prohibited, because the Messenger (peace be upon him) said: . This is a very simple example: how Islamic upbringing must be based on correct Islamic jurisprudence, otherwise our work will be in vain. So I am doing what I can, walking and running as much as I can from this angle. Now, what do these enthusiastic groups want? They declared jihad in the path of Allah, even though I am not prepared for it, and our Muslim brothers are not prepared for it, and this reality is the greatest witness. Now, I say regarding the Muslim world: What is the difference between jihad in Syria, or in Palestine, or in Afghanistan? I feel right now in this time that regional sentiment is doing its work. The revolution that took place in Syria, why did it not take place in Palestine and continue its movement? There is no one I know who is fighting, and if there is someone who is fighting, in front of him is not the dam of Dhul-Qarnayn, but there are dams like the dam of Dhul-Qarnayn, from the same rulers. My words are recorded, from the same rulers who rule the lands of Islam. How are we supposed to fight? Where is the preparation? This work requires, I said to some of our brother mujahideen themselves: I said: This work requires powerful minds of various and very diverse types of specialization. I felt recently that some of our brothers started asking us about what is called: consultation, . So is shura binding or indicative? I said to myself: "Sleep well," now you are coming to ask about this issue? This reminds me of a story that happened between me and a member of the Tahrir Party, when they had activity in Damascus—please— I remember now, we need to shorten it for the brothers and narrate it.
