The questioner : What are the sound and correct foundations in raising children with the correct Islamic upbringing?

The Shaykh : Upbringing has two paths: a theoretical path and a practical path. The theoretical path is to raise children on noble morals and acts of worship through messages, books, and audio tapes. Many households have been guided by audio tapes and have taken a sound direction through them.
As for the practical path, it is for you yourself to apply the acts of worship and noble morals. You treat them in the best way so that they become accustomed to the acts of worship and morals you possess. For this reason, the Lawgiver encouraged the good companion and warned against the bad companion. He informed that the good companion is like a carrier of musk: either he sells it to you, or he gives it to you, or you find a pleasant scent from him. As for the bad companion, he is like a bellows blower: either he burns your clothes, or you find a foul smell from him.
Then, it is important in raising children to be fair among them in what requires fairness, so that none of them bears ill will toward you. It often happens that those who are unjust in treating their children, by favoring some, are turned against by the favored ones, who become undutiful to them when they grow up. And it is only the others, whom they preferred over the favored ones, who benefit them. This may be an immediate worldly punishment. Therefore, a person must be fair among his children, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Be afraid of Allah, and be just to your children. اتقوا الله واعدلوا بين أولادكم
Sahih al-Bukhari 2587
The Salaf used to be fair among their children in kissing, meaning that if they kissed one of them, they kissed the other in the same way. Yes.
