The questioner : We begin.
The Shaykh: Go ahead.
The questioner : The last question is about the Tahrir Party. We know that you had many discussions with them in Syria. So, what are the most important matters or observations you have regarding their methodology and their creed? And we ask you to expand a little, if you please?
The Shaykh : By Allah, to the extent that I have!
The questioner : You have much good!
The Shaykh : Oh Allah, my experiences that occurred to me with the Tahrir Party, and the books I looked into from their books, formed for me an idea that the group has a specific and defined thought. And in my belief, this is one of their good points, regardless of their correctness or error. And I believe that unifying the thought is a fundamental thing for the success of a cohesive group; otherwise, they are a group in appearance, but in reality, they are scattered individuals. However, the thought upon which the Tahrir Party was established was not established upon a scientific methodology that is purified, and specifically upon the Book and the Sunnah and the methodology of the righteous predecessors. They are like any group, and any sect, and indeed any faction of the Islamic factions. All of these, as I always and forever say on such an occasion: they claim affiliation to the Book and the Sunnah, and it is not possible for an Islamic faction, no matter how deep it is in misguidance, to declare its disavowal, or at least its distance, from the Book and the Sunnah. And you see today the rulers of the Muslims, who were until recently known disbelievers, and if some of them, or rather their leader, becomes a Muslim overnight, he prays and fasts, they claim! So this is all a matter of politics. Therefore, there is no sect that disavows the Book and the Sunnah. And so, we, the people who belong to the call of the righteous predecessors, are not much concerned, neither much nor little, with the words and propaganda of people, as much as we are concerned with their actions and their movements. So the Tahrir Party, as is known, is a political party, but an Islamic political party, in order to gather people around this Islamic political system, it was necessary for them to put forward ideas and present them to people, so that whoever wishes from them would respond to them.
