How is moderation and balance achieved in Islam?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The honorable Shaykh says: How is moderation and balance achieved in Islam?

The Shaykh : Moderation and balance in Islam mean that a person performs the obedience of Allah without falling short in it or going to excess, because the religion of Allah lies between those who exaggerate in it and those who neglect it. Excessive rigor and affectation are not prescribed in Islam, and falling short and negligence are not prescribed. So let a person be moderate. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) warned those men, some of whom said, "I fast and do not break my fast," and another said, "I stand in prayer and do not sleep," and a third said, "I do not marry women." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) disapproved of that and said:
I observe fast and suspend observing them; I marry women also? And he who turns away from my Sunnah, he has no relation with Me أنا أصوم وأفطر وأقوم وأنام وأتزوّج النساء، فمن رغب عن سنّتي فليس مني
Sahih Muslim 1401
because these men affected excessive rigor and went to excess. The one who falls short is also falling short with himself, being negligent in the religion of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). It is obligatory for him to be upright and to do what is obligatory. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you and bless you, O honorable Shaykh. This is a questioner, Muhammad Bilqasim, who says in this question.
