A student reciting a poem in praise of the Messenger, and the Shaykh’s comments on it.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The student : The poem. The Shaykh heard it from you... if Allah wills.
Another student: Come on, listen.
The reciter: Our teacher, this poem is in praise of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).

The Shaykh : ...before your eyes.
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : His saying (peace be upon him)
I am merely a servant,’ so say: '[He is] Allah’s servant and His Messenger.’ إنما أنا عبد ؛ فقولوا : عبد الله ورسوله
Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah 329Sahih (Zubair `Aliza'i)
Is that not so?
The student: Yes, by Allah.

The Shaykh
Do not extol me as the Christians extolled [Jesus] the son of Mary. I am merely a servant,’ so say: '[He is] Allah’s servant and His Messenger.’ لا تطروني كما أطرت النصارى عيسى ابن مريم ، إنما أنا عبد ؛ فقولوا : عبد الله ورسوله
Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah 329Sahih (Zubair `Aliza'i)
Bring it, let’s see.
The reader:
"What can I say, and can the pen do you justice? *** O flame of light, when darkness enveloped us
In the darkness of raging disbelief, when you spread out *** You argued for the ways of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) against those who tore them down
The idols of Makkah, and they did not return *** And the fire of Persia covered what had its ambitions
And the crown of Caesar, after its glory, its composer *** A pearl, indeed, its pearl was trampled by the foot
Upon you, the Lord of the Throne sent a mu'jizah (a prophetic miracle) *** At the challenge, all the Arabs were dumbfounded
And from your fingers, the waters gushed forth *** And from a month’s journey, the non-Arabs were terrified
The works of others are illusions and philosophy *** And a fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) that made the deaf rejoice in the truth
Your works today, groups have followed *** The path of light, and values are honored with them
You are the Imam, so it is befitting that we not compare you *** For others are the valley, but you are the peaks
And I do not exaggerate if the Chosen One is a human *** But he is the best of those whose foot has walked
This is our testimony, and Allah is its witness *** Then the angels follow, after those who knew
No wonder my tears flow when I remember you *** And can my tears be blamed when they harmonize?"
To the end of it.

The Shaykh : And the crown.
The reciter: "And the crown of Caesar, after its glory, its composer ***"

The Shaykh : Before, it was before, it was before.
The reciter: "The idols of Makkah, and they did not return *** And the fire of Persia covered what had its ambitions"

The Shaykh : Yes, slow down a bit.
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : Is it established that the fire of Persia was extinguished and went out?
The student : I did not intend the fabricated report, my teacher, but rather the disappearance of idolatry.

The Shaykh : Who understands your intention, or who expresses your intention except your words? Who understands your intention?
The student : I mean, I follow it with another verse: "He intends works of his that were placed."

The Shaykh : Either you change it or clarify it.
