The questioner : This man is asking for your permission to recite a poem.

The Shaykh : All right, he says: he is asking for permission to recite a poem. Do you wish for us to grant him permission?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes, good.

The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. As for what follows, O honorable Shaykh, I ask your permission to recite the poem:

The Shaykh : Yes, please go ahead.

The questioner :"O my community, this night is followed by *** a dawn whose lights spread across the earth
and good is expected, and victory is awaited *** and the truth, despite the efforts of evil, is victorious
and with an awakening whose journey Allah the Blessed has blessed *** pure, with no impurity or turbidity in it
as long as Ibn Salih, the Shaykh of our awakening, is among us *** through him, support and victory are hoped for"
.

The Shaykh : Stop, I do not agree with this verse.

The questioner : We agree.

The Shaykh : No, I do not agree, because I do not want the truth to be tied to individuals. Every person will perish. If we tie the truth to individuals, it means that when a person dies, people may despair after him. So I say: if you can change the verse now to: "As long as the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger are among us," that is good.

The questioner :"As long as the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger are among us *** Ibn Uthaymeen".

The Shaykh : No, O Shaykh, you must never say that.

The questioner : That is what you have in mind.

The Shaykh : No, no, if you do not have it in mind, stop.

The questioner :"Our jurist".

The Shaykh : No, by Allah, I am not pleased with that.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : Do you have nothing else?

The questioner : The poem.

The Shaykh : Give us a question.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : Absolutely, there is no need, O man. I advise you from now on not to tie the truth to men. Men may go astray. Even Ibn Mas'ud said: "Whoever seeks guidance, let him seek it from one who has died, for the living may be afflicted with fitnah". If you tie the truth to men, a person may become arrogant, may Allah protect us from that, and may follow incorrect paths.
Therefore, I advise you now not to tie the truth to men. First, a man is not safe from error and fitnah. We ask Allah to keep us and you firm. He is not safe from error and fitnah.
Second, he will die. None of us will remain
And We did not grant to any man before you eternity [on earth]; so if you die - would they be eternal? وَمَا جَعَلْنَا لِبَشَرٍ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ الْخُلْدَ أَفَإِنْ مِتَّ فَهُمُ الْخَالِدُونَ
[Al-Anbya 21:34]
.
Third, the children of Adam are human. Perhaps he may become arrogant if he sees people honoring him, respecting him, and gathering around him. Perhaps he may think that he is infallible, and claim infallibility for himself, and that everything he does is truth, and every path he follows is prescribed. This leads to destruction. For this reason:
A man praised another man in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he said to him: Woe to you! You have cut off the neck of your companion. امتدح رجلٌ رجلاً عند النبي عليه الصّلاة والسّلام فقال له: ويحك قطعت عنق صاحبك
. And I thank the brother in advance, even if I did not hear what he says about me, for the feelings he shows toward me. And I ask Allah to make me worthy of his good opinion or more. But I do not like this. And I will reward you, if Allah wills. I ask Allah to reward you for me with good, and to reward you.

The questioner : We apologize, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you with good.
