Likening Allah to creation is the root of denying the divine attributes

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The doubt here arises from likening Allah to creation, as some of the distinguished scholars of the oneness of Allah have said: "The root of denying the divine attributes is likening Allah to creation." The root of denying the divine attributes is likening Allah to creation. That is, when a person hears an attribute of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), it comes to his mind that it resembles the attributes of the created beings. This is misguidance and disbelief. Therefore, one does not deny this attribute of Him. No, that is not the case. Rather, one affirms the attribute and denies that it resembles the attribute of the created beings. And as Allah the Exalted said in the previous verse:
and He is the Hearing, the Seeing. وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
meaning He is All-Hearing, but His hearing is not like our hearing; He is All-Seeing, but His sight is not like our sight. We hear and see with these limbs that are fitting for us, but Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has nothing like Him. So our Lord combined in the verse between ... and affirmation,
There is nothing like unto Him لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
as an introduction, so that when you come to the completion of the verse, it does not come to your mind that He is All-Hearing like your hearing and All-Seeing like your sight. Far be it from Allah that He should have anything like Him. And so it is said regarding all the divine attributes, whether they are essential attributes, meaning those that are inseparable from Allah (Mighty and Majestic), or they are active attributes, such as the attribute of descending, coming, and rising above the Throne, and the like. (And peace be upon you).
