The First Benefit of the Benefits of Zakah: Purification from Sins.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The first benefit is that it purifies the person. From what does it purify him? It purifies him from sins, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Charity extinguishes the sin as water extinguishes fire. الصدقة تطفئ الخطيئة كما يطفؤ الماء النار
.
It purifies the person from his sin because sins are impure and filthy, as Allah the Exalted said:
O you who have believed, indeed the polytheists are unclean, so let them not approach al-Masjid al-Haram يا أيها الذين آمنوا إنما المشركون نجس فلا يقربوا المسجد الحرام
[At-Tawbah 9:28]
. But the polytheist, since he had no righteous deed, his impurity became absolute impurity.
As for others, as for the believer who commits sins, his impurity is according to the amount of sin in him.
Perhaps you now remember what was mentioned earlier regarding the description of the opening supplication, where the person says:
O Allah, cleanse me of my sins with water and snow and hail اغسلني من خطاياي بالماء والثلج والبرد
Sunan Ibn Majah 805Sahih (Darussalam)
, so charity purifies the person from his sin and expiates his evil deeds.
