Seeking forgiveness is for all sins

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was received by the program from Riyadh, sent by the listener (A. S.), who says: Some people say: “I seek Allah’s forgiveness for every great sin.” What is your opinion of this phrase? Should one not rather seek Allah’s forgiveness for every sin, whether it is great or not?

Answer:
Yes, this is the Sunnah. One says: “I seek Allah’s forgiveness for all sins, the great and the small,” or “I seek Allah’s forgiveness for all sins.” As for saying “I seek Allah’s forgiveness for every great sin,” no, that is deficient. Rather, one should seek Allah’s forgiveness for all sins; this is what is prescribed and what is best. Even though Allah may forgive minor sins if one avoids major sins, seeking forgiveness for all sins is the best course. This is what was practiced by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the Companions; they sought forgiveness for all sins and did not limit it to the great sin. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
