The Shaykh : As for the topic of today's meeting, as we have accustomed you, we will speak about a certain verse. We passed through the story of Pharaoh. Which verse? The verse of zakah. Well, let us not deviate; let us continue. Last night, three verses regarding zakah passed us by. The first was the warning for those who withhold zakah, the second was the specification of those entitled to zakah, and the third—allow me—the third was the specification of the wisdom behind zakah. Allah the Exalted said to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family): [At-Tawbah 9:103] And the meaning of "charity" here is zakah. [At-Tawbah 9:103] That is, zakah. This is one. [At-Tawbah 9:103] It purifies them from what? From sins. Because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Sunan Ibn Majah 4210Da’if (Darussalam) It purifies them from what? From what? Where did you go? Rest, my son. Presence of heart is the foundation. From what? From sins. The evidence is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family): Sunan Ibn Majah 4210Da’if (Darussalam) "It causes them to increase" means it develops their morals. Because the one who gives wealth is joined with the generous, and the one who withholds wealth is joined with what? With the stingy. And there is no doubt that generosity is a form of purification. And among the purification of charity is that the one who gives charity finds an expansion in his chest that no one knows except the one who has given charity. The one who gives charity finds a great expansion in his chest, to the extent that he may wish he had all his wealth so that he could give it in charity, because of the intensity of the expansion he feels in his chest. And this is a great purification. This means: pray for them. And indeed, the Prophet (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) complied with this command. So the people would come to him with their charities, and he would say: "O Allah, send blessings upon the family of so-and-so. O Allah, send blessings upon the family of so-and-so." Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa said: "My father came to him with our charity, or his charity, and he said: 'O Allah, send blessings upon the family of Abi Awfa.'" So, if a person gives you his zakah or voluntary charity, you say: "May Allah send blessings upon you." Yes, yes. May Allah send blessings upon you and make you prosper, and place blessing in your wealth. But some poor people, when you give them what is available, say: "A little, a little," and you find their heart full of resentment toward you. And this is one who has been given stinginess, may Allah protect us from that. And what should have been for him is that he prays for you. And perhaps, when he prays for you, the one who gave charity will be moved to be more generous in his charity.
