What is the method for getting rid of riba money?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Praise be to Allah. Some scholars issue rulings that one who repents from consuming riba, and who has a lot of money or real estate, may eat from it, give charity, and repent at the moment he repents. They cite a verse from the Book of Allah
But if you repent, you may have your principal فإن تبتم فلكم رؤوس أموالكم
[Al-Baqarah 2:279]
to the end of the verse. They also say that if we tell him he must get rid of the house or villa he lives in and get rid of all his money, it becomes difficult for him to repent. This is what they say. We want to know the position of the Shari'ah in this matter. May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : What they said is the Shari'ah, because no one has an opinion after the saying of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in the verse you referred to. It is explicit in its indication and does not accept figurative interpretation or exegesis other than what every Arab understands:
But if you repent, you may have your principal - [thus] you do no wrong, nor are you wronged. فإن تبتم فلكم رؤوس أموالكم لا تظلمون ولا تظلمون
[Al-Baqarah 2:279]
So if the capital of this one who repented from riba, or from unlawful money, is, for example, one hundred thousand, and he has a million or millions, he must give it all away within the limits of his ability. If the one hundred thousand is sufficient for him and prevents him from seeking the livelihood he was accustomed to, then that is his obligation: he must give away all the forbidden money. But if that money, which is his capital, is not sufficient for him, it is better for him to ask people and beg from them than to eat unlawful money. This is the truth. It is not befitting for one who truly repents to hesitate in carrying this out within the limits of ability, which is the condition for carrying out all rulings, as Allah the Exalted said:
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity لا يكلف الله نفسا إلا وسعها
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]

This is the answer to the question.

The questioner : ... .
He does not have that right. Rather, that money must be spent on public facilities where no specific person benefits from it, even if that person is poor.
