Reports of hadiths on the virtue of good character.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Many hadiths have come from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in succession, commanding good character. In some of them, it is mentioned that a man sought advice or asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for a piece of advice, and he said to him: "Adhere to good character." And in another hadith, which is a very great hadith, he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
A man who is known for his good character has the same degree as someone who stands at night in prayer إن الرجل ليدرك بحسن خلقه درجة قائم الليل وصائم النهار
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 14:26
Many are the worshippers whom you see fasting and standing in prayer at night while people are sleeping, yet they do not possess the character of Islam except to a very small degree. His saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
A man who is known for his good character has the same degree as someone who stands at night in prayer إن الرجل ليدرك بحسن خلقه درجة قائم الليل وصائم النهار
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 14:26
is a very great command, because whoever is good in his conduct with the Muslims is as if he had stood in prayer at night and fasted during the day. Therefore, we Muslims must combine knowledge with action, and action is good character with your Muslim brother. So, while I am pleased with your intense crowding to sit and seek knowledge, as much as this joy fills me, it also saddens me to see your pushing and shoving, to the point where a small child might be crushed between your feet. I remind you, and the reminder benefits the believers, that you must adopt and embody calmness. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned in an authentic hadith:
When you come to prayer, come with calmness and dignity, and do not come rushing. Whatever you catch of the prayer, pray it, and whatever you miss, complete it. إذا أتيتم الصلاة فأتوها وعليكم السكينة والوقار ولا تأتوها وأنتم تسعون فما أدركتم فصلوا وما فاتكم فأتموا
The mosques are the houses of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), and they are visited not only for prayer but also for knowledge. You have often heard from lecturers and preachers that in early Islam, mosques were not just for prayer, where a man would pray four rak'ahs or more or less and then leave, but they were also schools where people learned knowledge, conduct, and character. If the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commands the Muslim that when he leaves his house for the mosque, he should not rush but walk with calmness and dignity, then you are coming to such a gathering to receive such knowledge that came from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so you must walk with calmness and dignity. How is it that you are running? I do not mean the running of beasts, but you are running in a manner that does not befit you, considering that you are students of knowledge. I hope to see you acting in accordance with the good opinion of what came from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and that includes not pushing or shoving, and having calmness and dignity when you attend a gathering of knowledge seeking to draw near to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). This is a reminder, and the reminder benefits the believers. I hope I will not see you again except as you should be seen, with good character among yourselves. Now, bring up your questions. Please.
