The wisdom of fasting.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The wisdom of fasting is not that a person restrains himself from food, drink, and sexual intercourse, but rather the wisdom lies in what Allah indicated in His saying:
Perhaps you will become mindful of Allah لعلكم تتقون
and what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicated in his saying:
Whoever does not give up false speech and acting upon it and ignorance, then Allah has no need of his giving up his food and drink. من لم يدع قول الزور والعمل به والجهل فليس لله حاجة في أن يدع طعامه وشرابه
So, whoever does not protect his fast from the prohibitions of Allah, his fast is deficient and he has missed its wisdom. Likewise, whoever does not abandon speaking falsehood, acting upon it, and ignorance, his fast is deficient and he has missed the wisdom of fasting.
