Discussion of the innovation of dropping the prayer that some Muslims perform!!

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : ... like the one who died without praying; there is no way for anyone to pray on his behalf. Therefore, by the consensus of the Muslims, no one prays on behalf of another. They innovated an innovation to solve the problem of some of those who are negligent in prayer, which they call "dropping the prayer." What a bad name and what a bad thing is "dropping the prayer." How do you drop the prayer? This is a strange phenomenon in Syria, and it is even more prevalent in the lands of the non-Arabs, because they are very far from the guidance of the Book and the Sunnah. I have not actually heard of this here. In Syria, specifically in our original land, Albania, for example, when a person dies, they bring a Shaykh who is an expert in these matters. He calculates: how old was he? For example, if he was sixty years old, he reached the age of obligation at fifteen, so how many prayers does he owe? Forty-five years. Forty-five years multiplied by 365, and the result multiplied by five, and I don't know, by Allah, it requires a calculator here to know the required number. They then require an expiation for this! They have decreed for themselves, without any authority from Allah, that each prayer is a mudd of wheat. So they calculate how many mudds of wheat that is, and what their value is.
It is like the chess operation. When they invented chess, they said to the king: "Make a wish." He said: "What do I wish for from you? Just give me a grain of wheat for this occasion." Note that the number doubles with each increase. When it came time to pay him, all the king's treasuries could not contain it.
The point is: they also calculate, I don't know how many thousands of mudds of wheat. This requires a lot of money. This is a poor dead man; what do they do? They borrow women's jewelry from near and far relatives until they are convinced that it reaches the value of these mudds of wheat. They put it in a bag, and perhaps they feel that this is not enough, so they repeat the process. It is a pathetic image and a great mockery. They start with the circle of poor and needy people they gathered. They say: "I accept this as charity on behalf of the deceased so-and-so, as an expiation for the prayer." You tell him: "I accept it." It is all deception and fraud and laughter, as they say, "laughing at the beards." After he accepts it, he returns it to him. He moves to the second and third, and so on, until the circle is complete, and none of the poor benefit from this bundle. In the end, so that they don't have to bring it... they appease them with a few coins. In this manner, they claim that the obligation of the prayers that this obligated dead man was negligent in performing at the end of his life has been dropped. No one among the scholars of the Muslims has said that one person prays on behalf of another, even though if they wanted to act on this hadith, it would mean they must pray for the dead. And praise be to Allah, we have not reached this farce of praying for our dead for the prayers they missed! So, there is nothing that orders making up any of the acts of worship except Hajj for the incapacitated parent, or fasting for a vow. And perhaps this is sufficient. It is now ten o'clock, remaining...

The questioner : The incapacitated person does not have to perform Hajj.

The Shaykh : Who?

The questioner : The incapacitated person.

The Shaykh : The incapacitated person does not have to perform Hajj, but the son has to perform Hajj.
