A man printed a book with us and gave us the amount, knowing that the book was sold, but he was unable to come to us to collect the amount, so he placed a savings amount in

The questioner : This involves a brother among the brothers who printed a book with us; he is from Gaza in the West Bank. It has been about a year and a half. He gave us the amount, we printed the book for him, and the book was sold. He is unable to come to collect the amount. He has a savings account in the Islamic bank, so he sent us his savings book. We are to place the account in the Islamic bank in his account. I am telling Ghazi, saying to him, "Understand from me: a person came as an intermediary, in any case. The important thing is that Ghazi said to him, 'By Allah, we do not want to know about this account: does sin befall us or does it not befall us?' I said, 'By Allah, we will ask the Shaykh and find out.'"

The Shaykh : Of course, sin befalls you.
Another questioner: The bank benefits greatly from this amount, especially in a savings account, but a demand account is less so, because when the bank looks at a demand account

The questioner : This book means savings.
Another questioner: What kind of savings is this? This savings takes interest and ties it for a specific period, do you know how?

The Shaykh : What do you mean by a specific period?

The questioner : For example, it ties it for three months, six months, or a year.

The Shaykh : And after that?

The questioner : It takes interest from him. If he withdraws it before the due date, it is agreed with the bank that it will take six percent or seven percent from him. If he withdraws it before the due date, the interest allocated to him is lost. This bank relies on him and the term account on the basis of lending these amounts to merchants, taking loans from them at nine percent.

The Shaykh : In exchange for riba (usury or interest).
Another questioner: So the Islamic bank itself is like the other banks?

The questioner : By Allah, it is the same method, but I do not know the exact style. As for what they usually follow, all banks do it.

The Shaykh : Is this intermediary who came to you on behalf of the book's author still with you?
Another questioner: He is still here, yes, he is present. He needs to pass by tomorrow, but he will not be able to reach him. He will not be able to inform the man who brought the book, and he does not want to return. It is difficult for him to return and difficult for him to enter.

The Shaykh : Okay, is it difficult to inform him of the news?
Another questioner: That is what we want; we want to see if we can inform him of the news.

The Shaykh : So that is it. Did you inform him of the amount? Is it secured?

The questioner : It is secured. By Allah, it is reaching one thousand dinars.

The Shaykh : Is it usually placed in a safe deposit box, as you know?
Another questioner: It is placed.

The Shaykh : What do they take?

The questioner : By Allah, it depends on the size and largeness of the box, and so on. For example, twenty-five dinars or fifty dinars, depending on the size and capacity of the box.

The Shaykh : Okay, one thousand dinars, what does it need? It needs a small box. Suggest to him one of two things: either he sends a trustworthy person on his behalf to receive this and deliver it to him, or you place it in a safe deposit box so that he pays a monthly or annual fee, I do not know, annual.

The questioner : Perhaps the difficulty in delivering the amount is due to new decisions; the matter is that they are afraid of a scam.
Another questioner: Regarding sending the money, it is possible via the Bank of Cairo.
