The Third Principle: Moderation in the Sunnah is better than adding to it, even if the addition is permissible.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The student: Conforming to the Shari'ah is better than adding to it, even if the addition is permissible.

The Shaykh : Good. Well done.
Conforming to the Sunnah is better than excess and addition. Who can give us an example of this? Yes.
The student: Like the two Companions who performed tayammum and prayed, and when they found water, one of them prayed again and the other was content with his prayer. When they came to the Messenger of Allah, he said to the one who performed tayammum and did not repeat the prayer:
You hit the Sunnah أصبت السنة
, and he said to the other:
You have increased in reward ازددت أجرا
.

The Shaykh : Another example, yes. No. Behind.
The student: For example, a man praying two rak'ahs at home in accordance with the Sunnah is better than praying four in the mosque or six, because it follows the Sunnah.
The best prayer of a man is in his home, except for the obligatory prayers أفضل صلاة المرء في البيت إلا المكتوبة
.

The Shaykh : Another example.
The student: The two rak'ahs of Fajr.

The Shaykh : The two rak'ahs of Fajr.
The student: Praying them briefly is better than lengthening them with the Qur'an.

The Shaykh : Correct. For the two rak'ahs of Fajr, brevity is better than lengthening, even though lengthening involves more effort, because brevity is what conforms to the Sunnah.
Good, other than this.
